It's a problem. Veterinary nurses and veterinarians are often terrified at the sight of a pet in pain or after a serious injury. Still, they happily recommend highly toxic flea preparations, which can make your dog very sick, and also known to kill dogs.

All natural flea prevention is cheap and easy. Some people use citrus repellent that is clearly derived from the potent anti-pest effects of citronella. To create a citrus repellent for your pet, cut the lemon and place it in a pot. Cover the lemon pieces with boiling water and let them sit overnight. The next day, transfer the liquid to the spritzer bottle and now you have a flea repellent. Spray the dog or cat all over remembering to pay special attention to the head and behind the ears, around the base of the tail and under the "armpits" of your dog. Be careful with your dog's eyes when spraying. Repeat this treatment every 3-4 days.

Others claim that an aromatherapy repellent works great as a natural flea repellent for their pets. Use 10 ml. Of sweet almond oil as your base and add 10 drops of lavender and 5 drops of cedar wood. Shake the mixture well and spray one or two drops on the skin. Repeat this treatment at least twice a week.

Last, but not least, the natural flea collar can be made by rubbing a few drops of, tea tree oil, eucalyptus oil, citronella, lavender or geranium essence on the rope or the normal neck of the upholstery or even your dog bandanna. Reapply oil or substance every week.

Remember, fleas make your beloved pet feel scratchy and aren't any fun for you as a pet owner. The best cure for fleas is to regularly use natural flea repellent or prevention techniques.
